The airbox of the Yamaha XJ 600 Diversion houses the filter and supplies filtered air to the four carburettors. Over time the boots linking it to the carburettors harden and split; an air leak there upsets the carburation, and a poorly seated filter lets dust in. This original airbox comes from a 1999 XJ 600 Diversion (600 cc, 49,000 km), listed in good condition and for the XJ 600 Diversion from 1998 to 2003. Check the body, mountings, boots and breather, clean the inside, fit a new filter and make sure each boot is fully seated on its carburettor before tightening the clamps.
