The lower triple clamp of the Yamaha XJ 600 Diversion holds the bottom of the fork tubes and carries the steering stem on which the bearings are mounted. It is the part most exposed in a frontal impact: a twisted clamp makes the bike pull, offsets the bars and can make the fork bind. This original lower clamp comes from a 1999 XJ 600 Diversion (600 cc, 49,000 km), listed in good condition and for the XJ 600 Diversion from 1998 to 2003. Check that the stem is straight and free of cracks. On a bike of this age, use the opportunity to replace the steering bearings, then set their preload and torque the pinch bolts.
