The side stand switch of the Yamaha XJ 600 Diversion is part of the safety circuit: it cuts the engine if a gear is engaged with the side stand down, to stop you riding off with it extended. Dirty or faulty, it causes stalling when selecting first, or even prevents starting. This original switch comes from a 1999 XJ 600 Diversion (600 cc, 49,000 km), listed in good condition and for the XJ 600 Diversion from 1998 to 2003. Clean it, check its operation with a multimeter, fit it with the locating pin correctly positioned and test: with the engine running and stand down, engaging a gear should cut the engine.
