The intake manifolds of the Kawasaki Versys 650 connect the throttle bodies to the cylinder head. They are rubber boots that harden and crack with heat: an air leak downstream of the throttles leans the mixture, causing unstable idle, flat spots on acceleration and sometimes backfiring into the airbox. This original pair of manifolds comes from a 2008 Versys (650 cc, 34,000 km), listed in good condition and for the Versys from 2007 to 2009. Check that the rubber is supple and free of cracks, especially in the folds. Fit them with new gaskets on the head side, position the clamps correctly and check for air leaks with the engine running.
